Being pregnant is an exhilarating experience and a special time. A real highlight in the lead up to the birth is a pregnancy scan, however having a 3D-4D baby bonding scan provides something quite remarkable especially since we are one of the few clinics able to perform stunning 4D HD Realview (see images below).
At your 3D-4D baby bonding scan you will get the chance to see your baby's face and take a sneak peek at their delicate hands and feet. Watch them sleep peacefully, take a big yawn, hiccup or just wriggle around!
It's a phenomenal experience and certainly one we hope that you will remember for a lifetime.

What is the primary purpose of the 4D HD scan?

- Wellbeing checklist including visualising fetal heartbeat & movement of your baby, determine the position of the baby and the placenta.

Tips when considering a 4D Ultrasound Scan
- Anterior Placenta - If you have an anterior placenta we suggest having your scan earlier from 24-28 weeks. After this point the 4D scan may not be as clear.
- Twins - For twin pregnancies we would suggest having this scan between 21-24 weeks - additional charges apply.
How accurate is the scan clinics private gender check with this scan?
In short, very accurate! This is the same gender check we perform in our very popular genderfirst scan.
We have built up an enviable reputation with our gender scan as we can provide a confident and assured assessment of baby's gender. Our qualified experts have years of experience specifically performing gender assessment and have scanned thousands of babies, building up a very robust and reliable reputation. We are very confident with our gender assessment and although a scan alone can never be 100% accurate, we pride ourselves on being right. Furthermore by using our own special Surescan™ Gender Protocol, developed exclusively in house by our Consultant practitioner, almost always are!
At 16 weeks the structures inside your baby are very small. Reproductive structures are even smaller, typically only a few millimetres in size. As the pregnancy progresses these tiny structures grow and become larger making it easier to identify baby’s gender.
As these structures are still very small an accurate gender assessment from 16 weeks requires a good eye for detail, anatomical knowledge and lots of experience. Our team all have a great deal of skill, knowledge and experience with interpreting these scans and can therefore provide you with a confidently assured assessment. Furthermore, we use our own special gender check protocol, developed by our gender expert, consultant practitioner Mr Usman, which allows for even more assurance.
How do I prepare for this scan?
- A partially full bladder may provide better images for this scan.
- Please bring your pregnancy book / previous scan results to your appointment.

- This scan is not a screening test for fetal abnormalities.
- Twin / multiple pregnancies incur an additional charge of £40.
- The quality of the images are dependent on factors such as fetal position, gestational age, mothers BMI, scar tissue and amniotic fluid, which are constantly changing from day to day and are beyond the control of The Scan Clinic and its practitioners. We will always endeavor to obtain the best results on the day however If adequate image(s) of your baby cannot be obtained due to such circumstances we may substitute your scan for an equivalent 2D scan OR you can choose to book a 20 minute re-scan at a discounted price of £30.00.
- Any information regarding the sex of the baby is not guaranteed & ultrasound alone is not 100% accurate as some babies can be ambiguous. Gender assessment is included as a free option and your practitioner will only provide you with information about the gender if they feel confident to do so from the ultrasound scan. The Scan Clinic or its staff can not be in any way held responsible upon the reliance of such information.
- This package is non-refundable irrespective of scan image results.
- 3D / 4D aspect of the scan are non-diagnostic however our 3D - 4D baby bonding scan include The Scan Clinics wellbeing baby checklist with report which includes visualising fetal heartbeat & movement of your baby, determine position of baby and the placenta.
- We may require details of your GP / Health Care Professional which will be requested from you before or at the time of your scan.
- Our pregnancy scans do not replace or substitute any scan you have or will have with the NHS / maternity care provider.
