Why choose us for your 3D and 4D Scan

We are a multi award winning clinic based in London, with awards from Whatclinic clinic of the year, GHP outstanding patient care and LUX best private ultrasound provider to name a few. Our clinical lead Mr. Usman is well known and respected in the industry and has been featured in the Huffington Post and performed scans live on ITV.

We pride ourselves on providing the best quality service we can which is why we are trusted by GP's, doctors, physiotherapists, midwives and many other healthcare professionals.

Our mission of better quality healthcare for everyone is at the heart of everything we do and drives us to do the best we can for each and every patient that we see. Our team of experts have years of experience and are fully registered and regulated meaning you are in safe hands with us.

About the 3D and 4D Scan

Our 4D scan will not only provide a chance to see your baby in true-to-life 4D but also an opportunity to bond with your little one.

Being pregnant is an exhilarating experience and a special time. A real highlight in the lead-up to the birth is private pregnancy scans; however, having a 4D baby scan provides something quite remarkable, especially since we are one of the few clinics able to perform stunning 4D HD pregnancy scans which provide ultra-realistic images of your baby (see images below).

The Scan Clinic is equipped with the latest high-end 4D ultrasound machines so that you can view your 4D baby scan live on our large HD TVs as it happens. Our 4D scan clinic has been featured on TV and in news publications, including this feature on 4D baby scans at the Huffington Post.

Our qualified 4D pregnancy scan experts provide a wealth of experience and either hold or have held NHS roles. You can also bring your partner or guest with you to your scan to share the unique experience with you. We offer flexible scan appointments, making it easy for you to schedule the scan around your busy life.

At your 4d baby scan, you will get the chance to see your baby’s face and take a sneak peek at its delicate hands and feet. Watch them sleep peacefully, take a big yawn, hiccup or just wriggle around! The 4d pregnancy scan is a phenomenal experience and certainly one we hope that you will remember for a lifetime.

Tips when considering a 4D Baby Scan

  • Anterior Placenta – If you have an anterior placenta, we suggest having your scan earlier rather than later from 24-28 weeks. After this point, the 4D pregnancy scan may not be as clear.
  • Twin pregnancy – we would suggest having this scan between 21-24 weeks – additional charges apply. After this point, the 4D baby scan may not be as clear.
  • Fibroids – Fibroids are benign uterus tumours that can grow in pregnancy. They can affect the quality of the scan and images produced.

Our 3D and 4D Baby Scan

3D baby scans let you see your beautiful baby before delivery. 3D and 4D scans are carried out using ultrasound waves, making them perfectly safe for your baby. The scan serves as a window into your womb. It uses modern imaging techniques that allow you to see your baby’s features like the face and nose!

3D ultrasound scans capture lifelike images of your baby. They can show the position of your baby, and the amniotic fluid surrounding your baby and monitor their well-being. The ultrasounds are non-invasive and are not harmful to you or your baby. With the 3D scan, you get a look into how your baby looks like – are they a lookalike for mum or dad?

If you want a scan earlier, our early pregnancy scans are recommended.

3D baby scans obtain 3D images of your unborn baby, while the 4D scans allow you to see real-time footage of the baby’s movement. The baby’s position can also be identified, and the gender can be determined.

Benefits of Getting a 3D or 4D Baby Scan

When you visit a private clinic, you have several options. The 3D and 4D scan has some advantages over the 2D imaging technology. Some of these include;

Greater clarity

Unlike 2d scans which produce a flat black-and-white image of your baby, 3D ultrasounds are often in colour and can offer a more complete view of what is being scanned. They are more efficient at helping visualise a baby’s features with the help of the detailed imagery this technology is capable of.

No harmful effects

3D scans don’t use ionising radiation which has been associated with having toxic effects on the embryo. You can take the tests without having to worry about the risks posed to the baby.

2D ultrasound scans are better for checking the health and development of your baby, however, 3D scans have plenty to offer to parents-to-be. You can take the experience of meeting your unborn baby even further by having a 3D baby scan which produces better and crispier images that paint a clearer picture of your baby’s features.

Enhanced visualisation

3d and 4d scans provide an opportunity for parents-to-be to visualise their baby with life-like realism thanks to the advanced ultrasound technology. Rather than flat black-and-white pictures, 3d scans are in three spatial dimensions that allow you to see your baby better. These scans are also in colour which help create the effect of skin tones with lighting and shadows!

Plenty of Keepsakes & Photos

There are many additional keepsakes you could have with a 3d or 4d scan. These include a colour prints of your baby, a heartbeat bear to capture the sound of your baby’s heartbeating, digital photo frames and more!

I have used the this clinic at the recommendation of my friend who had a positive experience. I... have used this clinic looking for reassurance before my gallbladder removal operation. The appointment was quickly booked for the next day to suit my needs. The scan was performed by a very well spoken, professional person. The whole experience was very positive, as expected from a private clinic. From the experience I have had, I can highly recommend this more

I've been to this clinic 4 times over the past 7 years for both pregnancy scans and health scans.... What sterling services they consistently provide! Booking is always easy either online or over the phone, minimum waiting time, and calming environment. What's most impressive is that Mr Usman always explained the scan results thoroughly in a calm and professional way on site and in a report, and quickly spotted issues that both my hospital scan and community clinic scan completely missed (the sonographer at the hospital even asked where I did my scan as she was impressed)! This helped me eventually get timely referral and free from lots of stress. I always feel being well looked after by the team and will wholehearted recommend them to anyone who is looking for efficient, caring and professional more

Important Notes

  • Please bring your pregnancy book with previous scan results (if you have had your first NHS scan) to your appointment as we will not be able to scan you without them.
  • All scans are performed to accomplish the main objective only.
  • This scan is not a screening test for fetal abnormalities.
  • Sometimes at the scan, we may not detect the heartbeat or visualise the fetus on the screen. In such instances, this could be because it’s too early for the ultrasound scan to detect the pregnancy or could indicate that a miscarriage has occurred. In the event of this happening, please be reassured that our trained staff are on hand to offer advice and guidance on next steps.
  • Twin / multiple pregnancies incur an additional charge of £45 (12 weeks onwards).
  • For scans with gender assessment included  (16 weeks onwards), any information regarding the sex of the baby is not guaranteed & ultrasound alone is not 100% accurate as some babies can be ambiguous. Your practitioner will only provide you with information about the gender if they feel confident to do so from the ultrasound scan. The Scan Clinic or its staff can not be in any way held responsible upon the reliance of such information.
  • We may require details of your GP / Health Care Professional which will be requested from you before or at the time of your scan.
  • Our pregnancy scans do not replace or substitute any scan you have or will have with the NHS / maternity care provider.

3D and 4D Scan FAQ's

How much is a 3D baby scan?

The price for 3D and 4D baby scans at private clinics varies. But on average, you should expect to pay between £100 – £200. You might pay more if you want additional pictures and keepsakes including a heartbeat bear. The final price will vary depending on the service you choose at The Scan Clinic.

When should I get a 3D scan during pregnancy?

You can get a 3D scan at multiple points during your pregnancy. The best time to get the most ideal 3D images of your baby is between 26 and 32 weeks. Keep in mind that the 3D and 4D scans are elective and not medically necessary, so you can have it when you want.

Is a 3D scan safe during pregnancy?

Keepsake 3D ultrasound pictures from private clinics are popular. They use the same technology as ultrasounds which aren’t known to have any side effects and are said to be generally safe during pregnancy. However, experts advise against them because they don’t know enough about them to certainly say they’re risk-free!

Are 3D baby scans worth it?

It depends on how much you value that first encounter and what the scan is for. If the scan is medically necessary to detect anomalies and deformities, there’s no question about its worth. Also, for parents that value that first encounter and want to save the pictures for memory, the cost of the 3D scan is a small price to pay for eternal memory.

Can too many ultrasounds harm the baby?

Studies have shown that ultrasounds do not pose any danger to mothers and foetuses. Contrary to popular opinion, they do not cause congenital disabilities, intellectual or childhood developmental problems or cancer. Usually, you only need two ultrasounds for the duration of the pregnancy. However, if you have a high-risk pregnancy, you might need more ultrasounds, but these shouldn’t have any impact on you or the baby.

Is it easier to tell if it’s a girl or boy in a 3D scan?

3D scans give you a better picture of what your baby looks like; most experts agree that it might be harder to tell the sex of the baby from them. That’s because waiting until 28 weeks to have one is recommended. By this time, it can be hard to see the genitalia of the baby.

What’s the difference between 3D and 4D scan?

3D scans show still pictures of your baby in three dimensions. 4D scans show moving 3D images of your baby. In 4D scans, time is the fourth dimension. In 4D scans, you have a live feed of the baby during the scan.
