We are a multi award winning clinic based in London, with awards from Whatclinic clinic of the year, GHP outstanding patient care and LUX best private ultrasound provider to name a few. Our clinical lead Mr. Usman is well known and respected in the industry and has been featured in the Huffington Post and performed scans live on ITV.

We pride ourselves on providing the best quality service we can which is why we are trusted by GP's, doctors, physiotherapists, midwives and many other healthcare professionals.

Our mission of better quality healthcare for everyone is at the heart of everything we do and drives us to do the best we can for each and every patient that we see. Our team of experts have years of experience and are fully registered and regulated meaning you are in safe hands with us.

About the Gender Scan

Our early baby gender scan can be performed from as early as 16 weeks and is a great way to find out the sex of your baby and is one of the most accurate methods for determining the sex of your baby. We use the latest ultrasound technology and our expert ultrasound staff provide you with the most accurate results possible. We have performed tens of thousands of gender identification scans with an accuracy of >99.9%. Our clinic is located in East London, making it convenient for expectant parents living in the area to come in for the scan.

During your pregnancy journey, you may take several ultrasound scans that determine the viability and health of the pregnancy and the baby. A special ultrasound called the gender scan is possibly one of the most essential scans for many parents. It allows them to know the gender of their baby and provides other vital medical details as well.

Your Gender Reveal Scan at The Scan Clinic

With our gender reveal scan, you’ll be able to find out the sex of your baby as early as 16 weeks. This is earlier than traditional scans, which typically may reveal the gender around 20 weeks and could be uncertain. Our gender scan is a safe and non-invasive reliable method that uses ultrasound technology to determine the sex of your baby. The Scan Clinic is equipped with the latest high-end ultrasound machines and you can view your scan on our large HD TVs as it happens. Our qualified pregnancy scan experts provide a wealth of experience and either hold or have held NHS roles. You can also bring your partner or guest with you to your scan to share the unique experience with you. We offer flexible scan appointments, making it easy for you to schedule the scan around your busy life.

How can you tell if it’s a boy or a girl from the scan?

The baby’s sex is established during conception through the presence or absence of the father’s Y chromosome. Initially, the external genitalia of your baby are undifferentiated or neutral. At around 8 weeks into the pregnancy, under the influence of the hormone testosterone, the labia transforms into the scrotum, while the clitoris enlarges to form a discrete penis. These changes are not easily and clearly visible on a scan however until a few weeks later, and initially, the genitalia appear identical.

During a gender scan, your experienced clinician will rely on their expertise and skills to identify the baby’s genitalia and determine their sex.

Accuracy of the early gender scan

Our sexing scan is one of the most accurate sexing scans available, with an accuracy rate of over 99.9%.
The vast majority of our patients (over 99%) will be able to find out the gender of their baby during their appointment. However, in cases where the baby is uncooperative or positioned in a way that makes it difficult to obtain a clear view, don’t worry! Our skilled clinicians will suggest taking a short walk to encourage movement, and we will attempt to visualise the baby’s gender again. In the highly unlikely event that we are still unable to determine the sex of your baby, we will offer you a complimentary free re-scan.

This means that you can be confident in the results we provide. In addition to finding out the gender of your baby, we will also provide you with a gender report and 2 free baby scan pictures to take home and treasure. These pictures will be a great way for you to show off your baby to your family and friends.

Finding out the Sex of your baby with our trusted Gender Scan

If you’re eager to find out whether you’re having a boy or a girl our gender scan is one of the most accurate methods available and also a great way to get a glimpse of your baby. Thousands of expectant parents have trusted us with their gender reveal scan and rest assured you can be confident in the results we provide.

Book online or if you have any questions or need further information feel free to drop us a message or call us.

Our range of private pregnancy scans is aimed to complement your existing pregnancy care and provide an opportunity to check in on your pregnancy. Why not take a look?

What is a Gender Scan?

A gender scan is an ultrasound examination conducted mid-pregnancy to determine the sex of your baby. It is non-invasive and uses sound waves to produce images of the foetus. The scan is conducted between 18 and 22 weeks. Beyond determining the baby’s gender, the scan also checks the baby’s overall development and well-being.

How Accurate is the Gender Scan

Our sexing scan is an accurate method for determining the sex of your baby, with an accuracy rate of over 99.9%. We have developed our own Surescan™ Gender Protocol, developed exclusively in-house. This allows us to be as accurate as possible so that you can be confident in the results we provide. In addition to finding out the gender of your baby, we can also provide you with 2 free scan pictures to show your baby to your family and friends.

How early can you have the gender scan?

With our gender reveal scan you’ll be able to find out the sex of your baby from as early as 16 weeks with over 99.9% accuracy!

In some instances the gender may be visible earlier, however, we recommend waiting until you are at least 16 weeks pregnant as the structures inside your baby are very small, typically only a few millimetres in size which can make it difficult to confidently determine the sex. As the pregnancy progresses these tiny structures grow and become larger making it easier to identify the baby’s gender.

What happens if you can not see the sex of baby?

We can identify the sex of the baby first time in the vast majority of scans. However on very rare occasions (<1%) we may not be able to determine the gender. This is usually due to baby’s position. If we cannot identify the sex of your baby, your scan will be paused and you will be asked to move around or drink fluids to try and encourage your baby to move and change position. You will be scanned again  to check. If however after a few attempts we still cannot determine the gender we will invite you back for a follow-up scan another day free of charge. Our gender scan is safe and our clinic offers flexible appointments.

Benefits of a Private Gender Scan

There are many reasons why families should consider getting a gender scan. Some of the benefits of the scan include:

It Helps in Choosing a Name

Finding the right name for your baby takes time, and it takes double the amount of time when you have to find a name for a girl and for a boy because you don’t know the gender of the baby. If you know the gender of the baby, you can easily focus on names that are most applicable to your child’s gender, shortening the long list of potential names you would have to come up with by up to 50%.

Helps in Planning and Setting up the Nursery

It’s hard enough to think of the design and theme of the nursery without knowing the gender of the child. Because the gender scan is done early in pregnancy, it gives you plenty of time to go out and design the perfect nursery for your baby with the right colour palette. You will also find it easy to pick the proper clothing in the right colour for your child.

Knowing the baby’s gender makes it easier to plan and buy clothes and accessories for the baby before they arrive.

Helps with Bonding

Many future parents find referring to their baby as “it” impersonal and prefer knowing them. Knowing who you’re talking to makes bonding activities like humming lullabies before bed easier, and it can even help when planning outdoor activities once the baby arrives.

Avoid Uncertainty

Not knowing your baby’s gender can raise various concerns. Which colour do you paint the nursery? Do you buy dresses or pants or both? What types of toys do you buy? Getting a gender scan can prevent uncertainty and surprises.

I have used the this clinic at the recommendation of my friend who had a positive experience. I... have used this clinic looking for reassurance before my gallbladder removal operation. The appointment was quickly booked for the next day to suit my needs. The scan was performed by a very well spoken, professional person. The whole experience was very positive, as expected from a private clinic. From the experience I have had, I can highly recommend this more

I've been to this clinic 4 times over the past 7 years for both pregnancy scans and health scans.... What sterling services they consistently provide! Booking is always easy either online or over the phone, minimum waiting time, and calming environment. What's most impressive is that Mr Usman always explained the scan results thoroughly in a calm and professional way on site and in a report, and quickly spotted issues that both my hospital scan and community clinic scan completely missed (the sonographer at the hospital even asked where I did my scan as she was impressed)! This helped me eventually get timely referral and free from lots of stress. I always feel being well looked after by the team and will wholehearted recommend them to anyone who is looking for efficient, caring and professional more

Important Notes

  • Please bring your pregnancy book with previous scan results (if you have had your first NHS scan) to your appointment as we will not be able to scan you without them.
  • All scans are performed to accomplish the main objective only.
  • This scan is not a screening test for fetal abnormalities.
  • Sometimes at the scan, we may not detect the heartbeat or visualise the fetus on the screen. In such instances, this could be because it’s too early for the ultrasound scan to detect the pregnancy or could indicate that a miscarriage has occurred. In the event of this happening, please be reassured that our trained staff are on hand to offer advice and guidance on next steps.
  • Twin / multiple pregnancies incur an additional charge of £45 (12 weeks onwards).
  • For scans with gender assessment included  (16 weeks onwards), any information regarding the sex of the baby is not guaranteed & ultrasound alone is not 100% accurate as some babies can be ambiguous. Your practitioner will only provide you with information about the gender if they feel confident to do so from the ultrasound scan. The Scan Clinic or its staff can not be in any way held responsible upon the reliance of such information.
  • We may require details of your GP / Health Care Professional which will be requested from you before or at the time of your scan.
  • Our pregnancy scans do not replace or substitute any scan you have or will have with the NHS / maternity care provider.
